What mobile app development covers
A mobile app is more than the screens on a phone. A real product usually consists of three parts: the app itself (Android and/or iOS), a backend that stores data and runs business logic (user accounts, orders, payments, notifications), and an admin panel where your team manages content, users and reports.
We plan all three together so that the app is fast, secure and easy to extend. Whether you need a simple information app, a booking app for your salon, a delivery platform with customer, driver and restaurant apps, or an internal field-force app for technicians – the process below applies.
Android runs on roughly 70% of smartphones worldwide and around 60% in Germany; iOS users tend to spend more in apps. Most businesses therefore launch on both platforms – which is why choosing the right technology approach is the first big decision.
Choosing the right approach
There is no single best technology – it depends on your features, budget and timeline. This comparison helps you decide:
| Approach | Technology | Best for | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native Android | Kotlin, Jetpack Compose | Maximum performance, deep hardware access (Bluetooth, NFC, camera pipelines), Android-only products | Separate codebase needed for iOS |
| Native iOS | Swift, SwiftUI | Premium iOS experiences, Apple Watch, ARKit, HealthKit | Separate codebase needed for Android |
| Cross-platform (Flutter) | Dart, Flutter | One codebase for Android + iOS (+ web), pixel-perfect custom UI, MVPs and most business apps | Very new OS features may arrive a little later |
| Cross-platform (React Native) | TypeScript, React Native | Teams that already use React on the web, apps sharing logic with a web app | Complex animations need extra care |
| Progressive Web App (PWA) | HTML, CSS, JS | Simple apps without store distribution, internal tools, quick validation | Limited device access, no full store presence on iOS |
| Kotlin Multiplatform | Kotlin | Sharing business logic while keeping fully native UIs | Two UI layers still to build |

How we develop your app – step by step
This is the exact workflow we follow. Each step ends with something you can see and approve, so there are no surprises.
- Discovery & requirementsWorkshop (call or in person near Munich) to understand goals, users, features and constraints. We sort features into Must-have, Should-have and Later.Deliverables: requirements brief, feature list, rough estimate
- Technical concept & architectureWe choose native or cross-platform, define the backend, APIs, data model, third-party services and hosting, and plan security and GDPR aspects.Deliverables: architecture diagram, tech-stack decision, fixed quote
- UX: user flows & wireframesWe map every journey (onboarding, ordering, payment…) as clickable wireframes so you can test the logic before any design work.Deliverables: user-flow map, clickable wireframes

We give a fixed quote after the technical concept. These factors have the biggest impact:
| Factor | Lower effort | Higher effort |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | One platform or cross-platform | Separate native apps for Android and iOS |
| User roles | One user type | Customer + provider + admin apps |
| Backend | Firebase / existing API | Custom backend with complex business rules |

What we need from you to start
- A short description of the idea and who will use the app
- The most important features (a rough list is enough – our AI assistant helps you build it)
- Examples of apps you like or competitors
- Your brand assets (logo, colours) if available
- Accounts we will set up together: Google Play Console, Apple Developer Program
- A decision maker for weekly feedback during development
Frequently asked questions
Should I build for Android or iOS first?
If your users are mainly in Germany or Europe and you want reach, cross-platform (Flutter) gives you both at once. If you must choose one, Android has more users, while iOS users typically spend more. We look at your target group and recommend.
How long does it take to build an app?
A focused MVP usually takes 8–12 weeks; a multi-role platform (customer, driver, admin) 4–6 months. You get test builds every two weeks.
Who owns the source code?
You do. After final payment, the source code and all store accounts belong to your company.
Do you also build the backend and admin panel?
Yes. Backend, APIs, admin dashboard and hosting in Germany are part of our service, so you have one point of contact.
Can you take over or fix an existing app?
Yes. We start with a code and architecture review, then stabilise, update to the latest OS versions and continue development.
Is the app GDPR-compliant?
We design for GDPR from the start: data minimisation, consent, EU hosting, data-processing agreements and privacy texts for the stores.
